Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed announced

by Paul Yan - on Apr 30th 2012 - No Comments

Sega characters will once again be racing head-to-head as Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has been revealed.

The racing game, which is a sequel to 2010’s Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, will feature a mash-up of new and returning Sega characters like Sonic, Dr. Eggman, Super Monkey Ball’s AiAi, Golden Axe’s Gilian Thunderhead, and Skies of Arcadia’s Vyse. Like the name of the game suggests, you’ll now be able to drive in transformable vehicles, which will change into cars, boats and planes if you’re on land, water and air, respectively. In one track, for example, the road will collapse making your car turn into a boat as you now have to traverse a river rapid.

Sonic & All-Stars will include new tracks, with two based on Super Monkey Ball and Panzer Dragoon. There will also be a new mechanic letting your “All-Star bar” power up faster, and a new, “fair” weapon system will be implemented allowing you to block and dodge attacks. Additionally, the game will have an “enhanced” online multiplayer mode, along with Grand Prix and Battle Arena modes.

Sonic & All-Stars will be racing out in “late” 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo 3DS. It will also be available as a digital download on PC. Click here for more screenshots of the game.

The previous Yakuza games were great, but things got a bit repetitive and that kind of thing get’s old. With Yakuza: Dead Souls it seems like Sega is taking the game to another level in which fans of the series could only imagine. In this trailer you get to see some of the mini games that you can expect to encounter when you get your hands on Yakuza: Dead Souls, which is exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

Take a look at the new trailer for the upcoming Zombie themed Yakuza game. This is completely new to the series and in one way I can appreciate Sega taking such a huge risk at making this already popular series into a zombie game. Yakuza Dead Souls is scheduled for release around March of 2012 and as some of you may know the game will be exclusive to the Playstation 3. As of now there isn’t any information on a Playstation Vita port.

Fight for Japan’s future in Total War: SHOGUN 2’s newly-announced standalone expansion

by Paul Yan - on Nov 29th 2011 - No Comments

Sega has announced the Fall of the Samurai standalone expansion for their critically-acclaimed strategy game Total War: SHOGUN 2.

Available March 2012, the expansion is set in 1863 and has Samurai-era Japan fighting for its future as modern weapon-clad America and Victorian-era Europe knock on Japan’s door. Meanwhile, the Japanese Boshin War (the War of the Year of the Dragon) rages on in The Land of the Rising Sun as the old Shoguns face a new Imperial uprising that aims to restore Japan’s Emperor.

In the expansion, six new clans will be playable including Imperial clan Satsuma and Shogun clan Nagaoka. Foreign powers including America, Britain and France will also be in the game.

Additionally, there will be 39 new land-based units (Gatling guns, U.S. Marines and British Royal Marines) and 10 new sea-based units (steamers, torpedo boats and battleships).

With an expanded, improved campaign map, new northern island provinces have been added, as well as new abilities, building and technology trees, and new features like railways and naval artillery strikes capable of hitting land.

“With three new agent types on the campaign map to choose from, four new historical scenarios, brand new siege-battle mechanics and a huge upgrade to Total War: SHOGUN 2’s multiplayer game, the list of additions is as epic as the conflict in Total War: Shogun 2 – The Fall of the Samurai,” reads the press release.
