by Paul Yan - on Dec 7th 2011 - No Comments

Next year we’ll be getting two versions of The Amazing Spider-Man: One will be the Spider-Man movie reboot from Marc Webb, while the other will be the video game movie tie-in from Beenox (Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man: Edge of Time).

According to a press release (via Joystiq), The Amazing Spider-Man game will be released alongside the movie, taking place after the events of the film. Being written by Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey (Battlestar Galactica), the game will once again have Spider-Man web-slinging all over an open-ended New York City, this time complete with a new “Web Rush” mechanic and improved navigation and combat.

We’ll be able to catch a new trailer for the game at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards airing this Saturday at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST. In the meantime, you can swing your way over to the game’s official website which says the game will out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS.

Ladies & Gentlemen Amazon’s Kindle Fire!

by Elias - on Sep 28th 2011 - No Comments

As you probably know by now, there was a rumor going around that Amazon was going to make a new Kindle. It seems like that rumor is true and the new tablet is intended to replace the old Kindle as it was dead technology and the device needed more innovation. According to details revealed to Bloomberg, Kindle will be an Android based tablet and it will sport out a 7″ display touchscreen. Below are more details and specifications.

  • Release Date: November 15, 2011
  • MSRP/ Price: $199
  • Connectivity: WI-FI, but No 3G
  • Camera:  No Cameras
  • Processor: A dual core
  • Multi-Touch Feature IPS Display
  • A New Web Browser called Silk
  • It uses Whispersync
  • Amazon Prime Users watch free movies
  • Ability to Play Games + Android Market
Here’s what Jeff Bezos the CEO of Amazon had to say.
“What we are doing is offering premium products at non-premium prices,” he says. “[Other tablet developers] have not been competitive on price” and “have just sold a piece of hardware. We don’t think of the Kindle Fire as a tablet. We think of it as a service.”
This device is going be a competitor to Sony’s Playstation Vita and knowing Amazon chances are that they are working on good quality games for the Tablet. We can only expect that good things to come for tablet users and at a price tag of $199 the install base will kill the iPad.

A Dead Island Movie is in the works!

by Elias - on Sep 28th 2011 - No Comments

LionsGate has acquired the rights to make the official movie of Techland and Deep Silver’s Dead Island. This movie was inspired by the trailer below and it seems like it wasn’t just gamers that paid attention to the popular horror/action-adventure game. Joe Drake of Liongate had some interesting things to say about the game.

“Like the hundreds of journalists and millions of fans who were so passionate and vocal about theDead Island trailer, we too were awestruck.”

He continued

“This is exactly the type of property we’re looking to adapt at Lionsgate – it’s sophisticated, edgy, and a true elevation of a genre that we know and love. It also has built in brand recognition around the world, and franchise potential.”

Let’s hope that this doesn’t become another video game movie that sucks as many have in the past. We will have to wait and see as zombie movies do tend to be awesome if they are done the right way.

Netflix is splitting into two companies and will bring games!

by Elias - on Sep 22nd 2011 - No Comments

Netflix is spliting the company to two and it seems like things will be getting better for gamers as they will soon start to add games to their queue system. This means that Netflix will be competing with Gamefly and that could be a good thing as some friendly competition might bring the prices down on rentals. Recently I noticed that a lot of the Starz programming was missing from the instant streaming queue, so it’s nice to see that there at least making up for that by bringing in games. Below you can see a video with explanation on what to expect from Netflix and Qwikster.
