Another Medal of Honor game is in the works (surprise!) and it’s titled Medal of Honor: Warfighter, reveals Official Xbox Magazine.

The MoH (2010) sequel, as Game Informer (via Destructoid) reports, is being developed by Danger Close and is due out on October. The game will center around Tier 1 Operators and will include multiplayer that’s being made in-house and not by DICE. Also, Warfighter, like with Battlefield 3, will be powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine.

If you are a fan of EA games and been wanting to get your hands on some of their shooters well this is your chance to get yourself some games for the PC at the lowest I have ever seen. In this deal you get Crysis for $18.71, The Saboteur for $11.21, Medal of Honor for $44.96 and let’s not forget Battlefield Bad Company 2 priced at $14.96 and finally Battlefield 2142 at $11.21. With these prices you really have no excuse especially if money is tight because anything lowered would be free.

We are here today to review the new first person shooter Medal of Honor, which many believe that it will be a competitor to Modern Warfare and Black Ops and to some degree it is. Based on the War in Afghanistan, you play many different missions around the mountain region of a nation in turmoil. Taking place in 2002 right after September 11 this game has gone through some controversy as family members of soldiers that died in the war weren’t pleased with the fact that in the multiplayer you could play in the Taliban team against the Allied forces.

For us, we have already experienced the multiplayer of Medal of Honor while playing the beta that came out earlier this summer, but we’ll tell you more below so keep reading. Back then when we played the multiplayer beta there were some graphic issues that got addressed and are no longer there, as the game looks really good when it comes to a graphical standpoint. Many people are going to confuse it with Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but MOH is nothing like it and probably the only two similarities that the game has is that it gives you the same controls that you get in Modern Warfare 2 and that it’s really short.
Medal Of Honor has a few interesting night based missions that add to that realism that the soldiers go through on a daily basis over in Afghanistan. There are some missions where you have to hop on a all terrain vehicle (ATV) and drive it around the mountains to get to the remote terrorist hideouts and take out these insurgents. Some of the missions rely on stealth and any movements that you make could give you away, so you must follow what your leader has to say in order to survive.

The guy that you see in the cover of the game with the big beard his name is Dusty and you will be doing special operations with him. He knows the area more than you and will be sort of a guide through the game when you do missions with him. The game’s characters changes a few times as you do missions that start you off as a Navy S.E.A.L code-named “Rabbit” who you will probably play the most. You also play as a sniper in Medal of Honor code-named “Deuce” and there is nothing out there today that feels more realistic than playing a sniper in this game.

One part of the sniping in MOH that feels realistic is that when you shoot with your sniper rifle there are a couple of seconds that it takes the bullet to get to where you are trying to shoot it, which just adds to that sense of realism. There are two missions where you play as an Army Ranger named Specialist Adams and this gives you an experience from other side of the war with the foot soldiers that are the Rangers. Our favorite mission while playing the single player campaign is getting on a AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and simply the views from up there were stunning.
If you bought the Playstation 3 version of this game you also get bundled Medal of Honor: Frontline, which is a great game. The only thing is that this game originally came out in 2002 and will probably cost you about five bucks if you buy it on Amazon or a thrift store. It was however good to see in HD even though the graphics were inferior to what the standards are today. It brings you back to the days that gaming was simple and wasn’t just about sales figures.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer in Medal of Honor is probably the only thing good that this game has to offer and you know why once you read our criticism part of this review. The game is very limited as it only has 3 options that you can choose from and these are Rifleman, Special Ops, and Sniper. You will be teamed up with either the Coalition side, or the Opposing Forces. If you happened to be in the Coalition side you will get to use American weapons like M16 rifle. However you are matched in the Opposing Forces things change and you will be using an AK-47, which is the weapon of choice by Opposing Forces, who are the Taliban.

In the multiplayer as the player progresses you will unlock weapons that will be available to use on both sides. It is very noticeable that while playing if you are in the Opposing Forces of the multiplayer you have a bigger chance of getting killed by the Coalition forces. This adds a great deal of realism as the Opposing team does not have the training, tactics and technology to win in real life. In one way if you are playing in the Opposing forces you will have to be a good shot and a bit more alert as your life depends on it.

Our Criticism

The only reason that we have some respect for this game is because EA hired some of the Army’s Elite Special Operations soldiers to help with telling the story and the overall development. As far as us liking this game and recommending it to people, we feel that we cannot as Electronic Arts short changed gamers once again with another crappy 2 minute title.

The game has a few glitches that made gameplay uncomfortable at times. As gamers we demand more for sixty dollars and we know that people that buy this game are going to play through it in less than five days and for hardcore gamers like us probably one day. This game really disappointed us and although the graphics are really nice and the feel of it especially when it comes to the sniper was good, we simply can’t recommend it to anyone and the sad part of it is that we love first person shooters.

Game Score

Because we are very unsatisfied with this game, Medal of Honor gets a 3 out of 10 and it’s probably the lowest score we have ever given to a game. The price is another factor that plays in to the score, because the game is not worth $60 dollars. We suggest that the people that want this game to at least wait until Call Of Duty: Black Ops comes out as we will be reviewing it as well and you can read about it once we get the review up in our site.

It looks like Medal of Honor will be giving Call of Duty: Black Ops a run for it’s money as EA is saying that the game has broken a record in pre order sale. This game does look awesome and look really advanced, so we will probably end up reviewing it and putting it on our list of must buy. “Right now we’re going into a really, really bad time in Afghanistan and we’ve just come off of the worst month of casualties in the whole war and this game is going to be released in October…So, families who are burying their children are going to be seeing this and playing this game. My son didn’t get to start over when he was killed. His life is over, and I have to deal with this every day…it’s just not a game.”

In the end people this is just a game and although it is really sad to hear about a fallen soldier, we should use these games as a reminder that we were attacked on September 11. We really shouldn’t forget that because that was a really sad day in history.
