Sleeping Dogs 101 Trailer + Screenshots!

by Elias - on May 24th 2012 - No Comments

If you ever played the True Crime series back on the PS2 and the original XBOX days, you might be interested in Sleeping Dogs. This game is going to be in Hong Kong and in the video up top you will get to see all the awesome details on what you can expect to see in the open world-sandbox game. The trailer also reveals a little bit of the story and from the looks of things you will get to use your environment while on combat.

The developers of Sleeping Dogs were inspired by the folks behind Arkham City when it comes to the fighting. For the racing and driving end of things, Need For Speed inspired that and after playing this game, I can clearly see that. Be sure to look out for Sleeping Dogs around the end of summer and below we have some really awesome screenshots.

Sony will feature “20 Gaming Experiences” at E3

by Elias - on May 5th 2012 - No Comments

The good folks over at Sony will be bringing “20 gaming experiences” to this year’s E3. Let us cross our fingers and expect that Uncharted 4 get’s announced and of course there’s the obvious we’re going to see PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and God of War: Ascension. It would be nice to see exclusive content from Rockstar Games like Grand Theft Auto V, but that’s another story. In our opinion Sony might be the winner out of the 3 console makers. You can see the full map of the show floor at E3 by clicking here.

Max Payne 3 Demo Impression [Pax East 2012]

by Elias - on Apr 7th 2012 - No Comments

If you follow the Max Payne series, you will probably be interested to know of some of the details that we found over at Pax East. As it turns out and chances are that you know this already, Max Payne is no longer a cop. He is a little bit older and pretty much an alcoholic spending most of his days drinking his life away. While at a bar, he runs into Raul Passos, who get’s him into all of this trouble and has him going around Sao Paulo and Brazil’s famous Favelas’.

Max Payne 3 is not an easy game and if you thought it was, we can assure you that it isn’t. This time around, Max uses painkillers as a way to heal himself, similar to the system seen in Kane & Lynch. With these painkillers he has the option to use 5 and re-charge them as the game progresses and in addition to that, you have bullet-time, which slows things up for you to make that perfect shot. If you shoot in the right location the bad guy dies faster and that is important to know.

We found that there were times in which it was hard to shoot and kill the bad guys even with bullet-time. To help with that, Rockstar added an auto-aiming system that allows you to aim better and that’s helpful in certain situations.

Max Payne 3 is an awesome game especially to those that are fans of the Grand Theft Auto series and that is because it uses R.A.G.E and the Euphoria engine. These game engines are the same used in GTA IV and Read Dead Redemption and will also be used in the upcoming GTA V game. With Max Payne being the third next-gen game coming from their studios, it is noticeable that the development team has put a lot of work on making this game.

My thoughts
While Rockstar Games is one of the best video game developers out there, there were some negative things noticeable with Max Payne 3. I personally never experienced this with them before and while there I felt like they lost touch with what the fans really want. The reality is that when you think of Rockstar Games, the first thing that comes to minds is GTA and this doesn’t mean that they should make one every year, but just offer more of that and occasional Max Payne, L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption.

Get us into these other franchises as slow as possible without forgetting that GTA is not Call of Duty. This means make a GTA every 2 or 3 years that way you keep things fresh and fun. The fanbase for Grand Theft Auto is getting older and soon the next generation of consoles will be coming out. Not everybody is going to buy one right away. After a while, older gamers are going to get tired of waiting and simply forget about the franchise.

In Conclusion
Go and get the game especially if you happen to be a fan of their Max Payne and the Grand Theft Auto series. It will be fun and it has an interesting story that the fans will like and most importantly, it’s a game coming from the same people behind GTA. It was really enjoyable and we’re sure that you will enjoy it as well while you wait for GTA V to come out.

Old 360 Consoles Still Have Your Personal Information

by Clint - on Apr 3rd 2012 - No Comments

Plays games, DVDs, and makes identity theft easy!

Many of you have probably traded or sold consoles before. Maybe the system wasn’t getting enough use, so off to eBay or Craigslist it went. Maybe you decided you like the games on the PS3 better than your 360, so you traded it in to Gamestop so you can pick up some new hardware. Maybe you sent it to an internet celebrity in hopes of them running over your old console with their car on YouTube. Whatever the reason, this news is going to scare some of you: it looks like it’s possible to grab your information such as address, name, and credit card info from your old 360′s hard drive.

Ashley Podhradsky from Drexel University in Philadelphia recently experimented with some common tools and applications on the Internet with a refurbished Xbox 360 console. After doing a little poking, she was able to easily grab the previous owner’s name, address, and credit card information. ”Microsoft does a great job of protecting their proprietary information,” Podhradsky said. “But they don’t do a great job of protecting the user’s data. Anyone can freely download a lot of this software, essentially pick up a discarded game console, and have someone’s identity.” She then goes on to recommend that you make sure to wipe your hard drive clean before you get rid of your system, saying that without wiping the hard drive the consoles are similar to Windows systems when reformatted: saying the data is erased, but with some poking and prodding is able to be resurfaced.

Or you could always go my route and smash the console with a life size version of Cloud’s Buster Sword. It’s fun AND protects your information!

The XBOX 720 will have Blu-ray and requires and always-on internet connection

by Elias - on Apr 2nd 2012 - No Comments

According to VG247, there is a new update on this whole next-generation XBOX story that suggest some extreme measures will be put in place to combat piracy in the future console. In addition to that the XBOX 720 will come with a Blu-ray player and Kinect and one of their sources says “It’s like two PCs taped together.” It was reported last week that the PS4 was on it’s way and that there is even a codename going around, so it is obvious that both of the console giants are preparing for the next generation.

Confirmation on the actual hardware is yet to be confirmed, but VG247 suggest some pretty interesting stuff and you can read that below.

We’re waiting for final confirmation of specs, but the graphics cards are thought to be equivalent to AMD’s 7000 series GPUs, but “not CrossFire or SLI”. The GPUs aren’t structured as they are in a normal dual PC set-up, in which the two chips take it in turns to draw lines of the same object: Xbox 720′s graphics units will be able to work independently, drawing separate items simultaneously.

In these situations we always post these on the rumor bag, which means that we’ll have to wait and see what happens. VG247′s sources suggest that this future XBOX 720 or Durango will be available around the holiday season of 2013. As always be sure to continue checking with us as more details emerge.
