While at our visit over at Pax East here in Boston, we were able to get our hands on 2K Games and Yager Development’s upcoming third person shooter Spec Ops: The Line. This game was really enjoyable to play and it felt like something fresh that third and first person shooter fans out there will like.
Even though Spec Ops is very different from Call of Duty, you will find this is a game that will raise the standards when it comes to graphics and gameplay in the whole shooter genre. In the single player demo campaign that we played at 2K’s booth, it felt like the story was going to be a good one, but most importantly, interesting.
We got inside a bus that had been made to look like it exploded and that made me want to play the game even more. You can see inside the van by looking at the video below.
Singleplayer
Spec Ops: The Line has a single player campaign that starts you off as Captain Martin Walker (Voiced by Nolan North, who plays Nathan Drake in Uncharted) and you are on a mission in Dubai. Accompanied by our Delta Force Bravo team, you are there to rescue a United States Army Colonel that was left behind. In the game’s story this is not the Dubai that we all know of today. Dubai is going through a post-catastrophe where the city is pretty much buried in sand from a disastrous sandstorm. This event caused many to evacuate while in the meantime some stayed behind. Captain Martin Walker and the Delta Force Bravo team have quite a mission to accomplish, which we will not spoil for you.
Multiplayer
After speaking to one of the developers, I found out that there will be some multiplayer in the game. Details on how that multiplayer will be were hard to come by, but keep checking with us as more details come our way. Look out for Spec Ops: The Line this June 26, 2012 on the XBOX 360, PS3 and Windows PC.
