The guys behind the Uncharted series have finally released some details of their upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive. In case you didn’t know, The Last of Us is Naughty Dog’s next big game and we were only teased with a short trailer back at the VGA’s. A couple of days ago, GameInformer posted some new and exclusive screenshots of the game and that was quite a treat in itself, but still few details. With the latest details you will find out who it is that you will be controlling when you get the game and if you cam remember in the teaser there are two characters a girl (Ellie) and middle aged gentlemen (Joel) and it seems like a promising story.

Below are all the latest details.

• A part of the game will take place in Pittsburg
• Weapons will degrade after extensive use and eventually break, forcing players to scavenge for fresh supplies.
• Players will not be able to control Ellie but Naughty Dog has put a lot of focus on her AI. Game Informer says that Ellie carried her weight in the demo they played.
• Online has been confirmed. No co-op play however.
• Combat was inspired by Anton Chigurh’s intense gun battle with Llewelyn Moss, (No Country for Old Men) using ambient noises, exhausted breathing and gunshots to compliment lack of music.
• Naughty Dog calls AI system “Balance of Power”; they adapt and react dynamically to whoever has the upper hand in a fight situation.
• The infected creatures, as seen on the teaser trailer, come up later in the game. First encounters are with humans and different factions of survival.

Our friends over at Kalypso have released some nice screenshots of their upcoming Legends of Pegasus. This game looks fun and is set in a futuristic world in which mankind has made tremendous progress colonizing space. As a real-time and turn-based strategy game, Legends of Pegasus will allow players to expand our civilization to other planets in our galaxy as well as building factories, laboratories and shipyards, researching new technologies and designing new spacecrafts to keep on exploring new galaxies.

LOS ANGELES – Feb. 1, 2012 – Submissions for IndieCade’s 2012 International Festival of Independent Games are now open at the IndieCade website: www.indiecade.com

IndieCade invites independent game artists and designers from around the world to submit interactive games of all types. Works-in-progress are encouraged.

IndieCade programs are designed to bring visibility to and facilitate the production of new works in the independent game community.

“Our mission is to spotlight the best cutting-edge work and the most innovative game designs — often thriving at the fringes of the game industry,” Stephanie Barish, CEO, IndieCade explains. “Our goal is to bring public as well as industry attention to exciting, innovative games, created by independent developers.”

Games selected will be spotlighted at the annual IndieCade Festival, Oct. 4 – 7, 2012; featured on IndieCade’s website and promoted via social media. Finalists will be considered for more than 12 categories, with winners honored at a formal awards ceremony during the fall festival.

Game-makers selected as finalists will receive two VIP all-access tickets to IndieCade 2012, including admission to the awards celebration and all VIP receptions and social events.

Any team that submits a game receives a main festival pass; an invitation to participate in  IndieXchange, a day long program offering practical workshops, networking opportunities and one-on-one meetings with art leaders, publishers and potential funders.

Already an awesome game, Tropico 3 will be expanding to more modern times with their upcoming “Modern Times” Expansion pack. It will be awesome to see the Tropico series expand to these days, being that all the previous games were set in past times. With Modern Times, city building gamers out there will get to build huge skyscrapers and the expansion will bring approximately 30 new buildings that should keep you busy for quite some time.

There will also be building upgrades, which means that you can still build the old buildings and as your city grows you can upgrade. With this expansion pack, gamers will get 10 new edicts that will allow more control of the lives of Tropico’s citizens.

According to our sources, the upcoming Nintendo Wii U will be getting a new name and will become available around this holiday season. The current name “Wii U” will confuse a lot of people out there that are not gamers and are planing to buy the console to a loved one. To avoid disappointments and help with sales, the folks over at Nintendo are going to rename it. This reminds me of Kinect and the Playstation Vita when they were first announced. Back then these devices had different names and eventually it was announced that their names would change.

According to Kotaku sources it seems like the future XBOX might come with Blu-ray support. This would make XBOX catch up with the PlayStation 3, which uses that disc technology already. In the details it was also revealed that the next console will probably have a technology that will not let you play used games. Let’s hope that Microsoft think twice about this idea, because it will hurt them in the end if they do this. It was also revealed that this new XBOX 720 or whatever their going to call it; is going to have a new and smaller controller.
