Catherine: Our Demo impressions [Atlus]

by Elias - on Jul 19th 2011 - No Comments

If you are looking for an unique game you will probably find it in Catherine. This game is really impressive and with the storyline you will find it interesting as it is something unlike anything else. The great thing is that right now you can test out the demo to see for yourself what the game brings to the table.

Storyline

Catherine starts you off with the main character named Vincent a man in his early thirties, who happens to be in a relationship with a girl named Katherine. Like any relationship most things eventually change as people get older and there are different things people want like kids a house and a family.

This is what Katherine wants and of course Vincent doesn’t want to rush into things or seems unsure of what to do. While hanging out in a bar he meets this beautiful girl named Catherine and this is where the problems begin..

Around the same time in the town in which Vincent live in, there are a couple of incidents that all include men that die in their sleep. The deaths get a lot media attention and then the rumors start that basically if you have dream that you are falling and you don’t wake up soon enough you will die.

After meeting the beautiful Catherine he ends up sleeping with her and ever since then he starts getting nightmares that relate to the rumors going around of the men that are dieing in these incidents. These men appear to him as sheep and he must escape these horrible situations otherwise he will die in real life.

We do not want to spoil the whole demo for you, but you should at least check it out as it was really fun to play the demo. We are planning to review this in the future, so look out for the our review. You can expect Catherine this July 26, 2011 on the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3. For now take a look at these screenshots and unboxing trailer below.

Mafia 2 the Demo impressions!

by Elias - on Aug 13th 2010 - 1 Comment

Since Mafia 2 is one of the games for this year that we are planing on getting and one that we have personally been anticipating, we thought you should know what our impressions of the game demo are and it should answer some questions that you may have. The Mafia 2 demo is worth getting, but were debating on whether or not the game is a buy or a rent. For us, we feel that we’ve been spoiled with Grand Theft Auto IV’s Euphoria game engine and playing this demo on 2K games PhysX engine just feels different and that’s ok, because Mafia 2 is not Grand Theft Auto. We were expecting more from the demo, but to be honest with you, we are not that impressed with the gameplay in general.

On the positive side of this game the team over at 2K games did a great job as far as looks go because the graphics look amazing especially on the XBOX 360. We appreciated what the developers did, letting you choose whether or not you want to watch the cut-scenes or simply skip them. The driving was nice and flexible, but sometimes the streets were a bit narrow and being that in that era you had cars that were huge this made it a bit irritating because it makes you hit things.

The police in this game are really intelligent and so they will chase you around a lot so they will take you down. Another thing that this game has is that if you are planing to carjack up a car from somebody driving you better be ready to shoot that person because most of the drivers have guns and will shoot at you.

Because this is just a demo, we are not going to get discouraged about getting this game and we will buy it once it comes out that way we can give you a better review. There are alot of negative things about this game as well as positive and we will just have to wait and see.

If you are like me and like to try things before you buy than you should know that the demo for Mafia 2 is available for download on XBOX Live and the XBOX 360. The folks over at 2K Games have done great work and you cans see that in the demo, but don’t just take our words for it. Give it a try, it’s free.
