Microsoft buys Skype [Business]

by Elias - on May 10th 2011 - No Comments

It looks like Microsoft has bought Skype for  approximately 8 billion dollars. The deal is kind of surprising as Google practically is taking over that market with their new calling features that Gmail has. It would be nice to see if Microsoft implements a calling feature in their email client Hotmail. Being that it’s Microsoft we will probably have to pay an arm and a leg for the service now. There also may be some complications with the PSP as it has Skype in it, which is a nice feature to have. Since Microsoft bought Skype we may end up loosing that feature, but then again a lot of people have PSP’s.

Kinect has sold 2.5 Million units in 25 Days

According to Microsoft their Kinect has sold about 2.5 million units in 25 days which means that they have been selling like hotcakes. Microsoft did have a huge advertising campaign on the Kinect and that could be the reason. Things are doing so well that Microsoft is looking into manufacturing companies that will help to keep up with demands. The Playstation move isn’t doing as well as Kinect, but we can’t say that we blame them, I mean Kinect looks great just for the fact that you will not need any controller to move stuff on your XBOX.

“Kinect on Xbox 360 was a top performer at Target this weekend,” said Nik Nayar, vice president, merchandising, Target. “We expect Kinect will be a must-have gift this holiday season, so Target will continue to receive consistent shipments of Kinect throughout December. The hands-free, active gaming experience that Kinect offers is something that everyone in the family can enjoy.”

Is Downloadable Content making games shorter these days?

In this generation of gaming there are a lot of things that have changed comparing to the previous one. Most gamers that were around probably already know this and can agree that ever since XBOX Live and PSN came into town, the gamer’s experience changed a lot. Before when consoles didn’t connect to the Internet in the sense that they didn’t have stores or marketplaces, we experienced gaming in a whole different way. (more…)

A movie about the History of Internet Porn [NSFW]

by Elias - on Jul 30th 2010 - No Comments

Check out this trailer, which is NSFW about the history of online internet porn. The movie I’m talking about here is called Middle Men starting Luke Wilson, who plays Jack Harris the man that created the first billing system that caters to billing people that want to watch porn over the internet. Back in 1995 this was a big deal because there were no laws about this and at the time the internet was very new, and because computers were awful.

Watch below and viewer discretion is advised and you must be 18 years old to watch this.

In the trailer you get to see the story of Jack Harris the pioneer of the online internet porn business.

Check out Microsoft’s 4 GB 360 Kinect Bundle

by Elias - on Jul 21st 2010 - 1 Comment

No this is not a typo Microsoft will actually be selling 4GB XBOX 360 slims that will cost you $200 dollars, which is a great price indeed, but one problem the hard drive will only have 4 Gigabites available for use. This is probably Microsoft shooting back at the rumors that a new $200 dollars Playstation is on it’s way. Microsoft did this before back when Playstation 3 slim was announced the 360 Elite’s price drooped and retailed for $300 bucks so it’s a probably a pissing contest again. Aaron Greenberg confirms that you will get to plug in your USB thumb drives into this new 360, so I guess it isn’t that bad for people that have pen drives. It’s also a great idea to lower the prices of these consoles especially with Kinect and the Playstation Move coming soon.

Sony was just testing us with the PSPGo

by Elias - on Jun 11th 2010 - No Comments

Well this one is a no surprise, but it looks like Sony was just testing the waters when it comes down to the PSPGo. They thought that digital downloads were what people wanted, but what they didn’t realize was that we all love digital downloads as long as they are at an affordable price. The cheapest games on the Playstation Store are like $5 bucks that’s why the PSPGo didn’t work. It’s interesting that they were experimenting on the whole digital download trend that Apple has with their devices.
