BioShock Infinite delayed

by Paul Yan - on May 11th 2012 - 1 Comment

BioShock Infinite was first announced on August 2010, but it wasn’t slated to come out until the next two years in 2012. But earlier this week, Infinite’s creative dirctor Ken Levine announced that the game was going to be delayed … to 2013.

Specifically, Infinite will now be released on Feb. 26, 2013 instead of the original date of Oct. 16, 2012, making the agonizing two-year wait turn into a two-and-a-half-year wait. Clearly, the game was revealed way too soon, and this delay is pretty bad news as the hype surrounding Infinite is seriously starting to dwindle (arguably, it already has).

Levine, though, says the extra time is being used to make the game better. In a blog post on the game’s official website, he writes:

When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing.

Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.

I won’t kid you: BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter. We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco.

The same principle now applies to BioShock Infinite.

What does this mean for you? It means a bit more waiting, but more importantly, it means an even better BioShock Infinite. The great can be made greater, and we owe it to both ourselves and to you, our fans, to take this opportunity. Irrational Games is one of those rare developers lucky enough to ask the people who sign the checks: “Hey, can we have a few more of those checks?”

We are also going to hold off on showing BioShock Infinite at the big events of the summer, like E3 and GamesCom. That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we’re going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February.

Well, at least it’s good to know they’re working hard on the game. And hey, at least we know when the game’s coming out and what the hell’s going on with it unlike Final Fantasy Versus XIII. That game still exists, right?

First impression of Spec Ops: The Line

by Elias - on Apr 11th 2012 - No Comments

While at our visit over at Pax East here in Boston, we were able to get our hands on 2K Games and Yager Development’s upcoming third person shooter Spec Ops: The Line. This game was really enjoyable to play and it felt like something fresh that third and first person shooter fans out there will like.

Even though Spec Ops is very different from Call of Duty, you will find this is a game that will raise the standards when it comes to graphics and gameplay in the whole shooter genre. In the single player demo campaign that we played at 2K’s booth, it felt like the story was going to be a good one, but most importantly, interesting.

We got inside a bus that had been made to look like it exploded and that made me want to play the game even more. You can see inside the van by looking at the video below.

Singleplayer

Spec Ops: The Line has a single player campaign that starts you off as Captain Martin Walker (Voiced by Nolan North, who plays Nathan Drake in Uncharted) and you are on a mission in Dubai. Accompanied by our Delta Force Bravo team, you are there to rescue a United States Army Colonel that was left behind. In the game’s story this is not the Dubai that we all know of today. Dubai is going through a post-catastrophe where the city is pretty much buried in sand from a disastrous sandstorm. This event caused many to evacuate while in the meantime some stayed behind. Captain Martin Walker and the Delta Force Bravo team have quite a mission to accomplish, which we will not spoil for you.

Multiplayer

After speaking to one of the developers, I found out that there will be some multiplayer in the game. Details on how that multiplayer will be were hard to come by, but keep checking with us as more details come our way. Look out for Spec Ops: The Line this June 26, 2012 on the XBOX 360, PS3 and Windows PC.

Turn up the volume and prepare to rock out to this dubstep-charged Borderlands 2 trailer, which shows some of the game’s colorful-looking characters, as well as the release date for Gearbox Software’s upcoming shootin’, lootin’ co-op game.

Borderlands 2 will be out in the U.S. on Sept. 18 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Then, three days later, the game will be released “internationally” on Sept. 21, according to an announcement on the game’s official website.

There will be four-player co-op, split-screen, more skills, and apparently lots and lots of guns. Like, “87 bazillion” guns. No, wait, make that “870 gajillion”! Yes, yes, that sounds like a good, fake amount.

So we will see a Borderlands 2!

by Elias - on Feb 9th 2011 - No Comments

For those that enjoyed the awesomeness of Borderland, it looks like we will finally see a sequel to this awesome game. The news comes from Gearbox Software CEO, Randy Pitchford confirming to VG247 that a sequel to borderlands is in the works. He didn’t necessarily confirmed it, but he did mention of him working on Borderlands 2 so for him to even mention that this might mean that we’ll be hearing about this. Let’s hope that the news comes to Pax East 2011 as we will be there.

Below are Randy Pitchford’s own words

“I’m sure Duke will have some demands of me and I’ve gotta work on Borderlands 2, right?”

Anywayws lets hope news comes soon on Borderlands 2.
