About Playstation 3
To replace the PS2 came the Playstation 3 with the most technological advancement in gaming history. What made things interesting of the PS3 was the fact that Microsoft had already released it’s popular XBOX 360 game system, which already had a huge install base and about a year of success. In the first year  it seemed like the console was only selling to fans of previous consoles and many thought that it was going to fail as the price tag was $700 dollars all while the XBOX 360 was way cheaper had  a lot of games. The Nintendo Wii was also a huge blow to the console as it targeted the undecided casual console buyers and not to mention the fact that it was released in the same month.

It took Playstation 3 two years to gain the respect that it has and get a better install base. In reality a lot of the new sales that the PS3 made came from XBOX 360 owners that suffered great loss with the infamous Red Ring of Death situation that plagued 360 users worldwide. PS3 became more popular once many of it’s users realized that it was way superior than the 360 and then the HD DVD and Blueray DVD battle started. Eventually Blueray won the battle and that’s why we see BD DVD’s everywhere.

The only negative issue with the PS3 was that developers had a difficult time making games for it as it used a new interface that only a few could understand. To help with that the folks over at Sony made it easier for game makers to create that masterpieces that we see today.
