Commander Shepard Shows Fans Love with Demo Coming Out on February 14th

by Clint - on Jan 20th 2012 - No Comments

They're like the A-Team but in space. And some are hot aliens.

When people think of February, specifically the 14th, one thought usually comes to mind: Valentine’s Day. Images of flowers, chocolates, cards, and romanticism fill the head, for better or for worse. This year though, Bioware is adding some new thoughts to people’s heads: gunning down hostiles, mass invasion of Earth, and blue-skinned alien boobs.

Bioware’s popular space RPG/FPS hybrid has the third installment coming out on March 6th, but if you’re either too impatient to wait until then or aren’t sure if you want to get in on the adventures of Commander Shepard and his spunky bunch of companions from across the galaxy, then you’ll be delighted to see the demo of Mass Effect 3 appear on Valentine’s Day. The demo shows off both single-player and multi-player gameplay, although if you didn’t get Battlefield 3 you’ll be having to wait until the 17th to dive into the multi-player portion, allowing players to get a taste of both types of play before the game is available on shelves. You’ll also gain access to additional content if you played the Kingdoms of Alamur demo that debuted a few days ago.

In a time when video games are being bought more on a trust basis than if you tried a demo and enjoyed it, it’s nice to see EA and Bioware bringing in a demo to both reassure gamers that their money will be well spent and whet their appetite for more Mass Effect goodness. I’m sure it will also help after the massive backlash that happened when multi-player was first confirmed to be included in the game as well. As for me, you’ll probably find me on my PC playing the demo on V-Day, then immediately running out to Gamestop to throw a wad of cash in their face to pay off the cool Collector’s Edition of the game.

Mass Effect 3 is rated M and will be available on X-Box 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

Trine 2 Game Review!

by Elias - on Jan 3rd 2012 - No Comments

When you first look at a game like Trine 2, what you will remember the most will be that side- scrolling nostalgia that most of us enjoyed from previous generations. Rarely do we get to see a game that looks this good and has such a fun and enjoyable gameplay.

Trine 2 is a puzzle/platform game where players get to use the skills of three characters: Amadeus the wizard, Zoya the thief, and Pontius the knight. In the single player story, these three characters are bound together as the Mystical “Trine” has made them into one common entity.

There is a great storyline, but we would prefer not to spoil it for you as it is really a good game to play. Gamers that are into wizards and fantasy based games will probably enjoy it the most. As you probably know, Trine 2 is the sequel to Trine, which came out in 2009. Both of these games are awesome, but with Trine 2 you can tell that the good people over at Frozenbyte worked hard at making it better.

Amadeus Lifting a huge Rock with his powers

The Characters & Single Player

As mentioned earlier, Trine 2 has three different characters that bring in an experience that is hard to find in gaming. The first character, Amadeus, he is the Wizard and he has the ability to move objects around and that power lets him facilitate the progress of the story. Unfortunately Amadeus does not fight and in certain situations online and offline, he is vulnerable to goblins that sometimes appear.

Zoya Doing her thing

Zoya is known as the thief, but she calls it “being an entrepreneur”. She’s really the most fun to play with as she has a bow and arrow that can be quite useful in certain situations. Zoya also has the ability to move around quickly and that lets her escape certain times a lot faster than Amadeus and Pointius.

Pontius Using his cover system

Pontius is the knight and he will remind you of Kratos from God of War 3. He defends the other two characters from goblins that attack you through the game. Pontius also can destroy certain walls and that makes him the most important of the three. In addition to all that cool stuff, Pontius can cover himself quite well.

The Multiplayer

A feature that makes this game more enjoyable is the multi-player. It was really fun to play it because you can connect to a game and start playing right away. In the online gameplay you can join other players and that makes it so that 3 people can play at the same time.

Trine 2 has a real good checkpoint system and what’s really nice about it is that if you die and spawn back you will notice that the health of the three characters comes back.

Our Criticism

This is the part in which we point out the things that we didn’t like about the game. In this case with Trine 2 it is very difficult to criticize as it was nearly perfect. If there is a mistake in the game, let us assure you that is hard to find.

In conclusion, we recommend this game as it was really enjoyable to play. When a game is this fun and has a good replay value, it deserves a 9 out of 10.

Modern Warfare 3 will be getting it’s first DLC next month!

by Elias - on Dec 27th 2011 - No Comments

If you are a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Elite subscriber you will probably be interested to know that the first downloadable content pack will become available on January 24, 2012. This DLC will first come out on XBL as usual and then eventually to the Playstation 3 via PSN. This news comes from Infinity Ward’s Creative strategist Robert Bowling, who said the following

“full season of content for Modern Warfare 3 kicks off for Elite subscribers January 24th on Xbox Live.”

It will be interesting to see what Infinity Ward is bringing to the table and let’s hope for the best, but it would be nice if Activision would make this dlc available on both xbl and psn at the same time.
