E3 2011: The official name for the NGP is PS Vita!

by Elias - on Jun 7th 2011 - No Comments

It’s official the folks over at Sony have named their next generation console “PS VITA” as the successor to the PSP.  Most people kind of knew that, but it was good to get confirmation from them. The name really doesn’t sound as glamorous in English as it sounds in Italian and it is obvious that the name mean Life. From looking at the device we have to say that it’s pretty impressive, but it has some challenges ahead what with smartphones taking a lot of the mobile gaming market. We will have an opinion piece on the device later on, so look out for that.

AT&T is probably the official carrier for Xperia Xplay and the list of games coming to the Device!

by Elias - on Jun 3rd 2011 - No Comments

The Xperia Play is probably going to be the future of the PSP as it is a combination between a PSP and a Cell phone that runs Android OS. It is believed that Sony and AT&T are going into an exclusive partnership that would make AT&T the official Carrier of the device, which is a good thing because T-Mobile is owned by them now, which means that more people will get access to this phone.

Below is a list of the upcoming games that you can get with the device once it comes out.

Sony puts out the Details on their Customer Appreciation Program for PSN being down!

by Elias - on May 16th 2011 - No Comments

As a Playstation 3 or PSP owner I bet that you were wondering what it is that Sony is giving it’s users to compensate for almost a month without The Playstation Network. The details are in and it looks like we will be getting a lot of stuff for free from Sony. There are also movies that are going be available for free rental that we will getting and it’s nice to see that Sony isn’t forgetting PSP owners as well as their Music Unlimited Premium and Playstation Plus subscribers..

Anyways check out the details below courtesy of the Playstation Blog.

This package will be made available to all existing registered PlayStation Network and Qriocity users in North America (US and Canada), and will be made available shortly after we have fully restored the service. More specific details about these offers and eligibility requirements will be posted as the services go live.

All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

  • LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
  • ModNation Racers
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation
  • A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
  • 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
  • Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
  • Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
  • Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
  • To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game

I’m personally going for inFamous and probably Dead Nation on the Playstation 3 and for my PSP chances are that I will be getting Little Big Planet (PSP) and Mod Nation Racers, but then again I may end up getting either Pursuit Force or Killzone Liberation that are very tempting. I guess time will tell on my end, but yeah that is what you PSN users in North America will be getting.

Read the latest update on Sony and the PSN!

by Elias - on May 8th 2011 - No Comments

The Playstation Network is still down and we all expected to be up by at least Friday, but unfortunately it will probably be down for quite some time. If you ask me all of this stuff sucks and it interrupted us gamers from doing what we like to do, which is play games. We hope that the service comes back soon, being that we wanted to do a review on Mortal Kombat 9 and can’t because no multi-player.

Below you can read the latest update on what’s going on with the PSN and what the folks over at Sony are doing to ensure that we get the Playstation Network back and secured from future attacks.

As you may know, we’ve begun the process of restoring the service through internal testing of the new system. We’re still working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, as well as working with a variety of outside entities to confirm with them of the security of the system. Verifying the system security is vital for the process of restoration. Additional comprehensive system checks and testing are still required, and we must complete that process before bringing the systems online.

As you’ve heard us say, our utmost priorities are the security of the network and ensuring your data is safe. We won’t restore the services until we can test the system’s strength in these respects.

When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system. We know many of you are wanting to play games online, chat with your friends and enjoy all of the services PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have to offer, and trust me when I say we’re doing everything we can to make it happen. We will update you with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience of this network outage.

Rumor: The PSN is working in some parts of Europe and Japan!

by Elias - on May 4th 2011 - No Comments

We have received an email tip that in certain parts of Japan and in Europe the Playstation Network is working. This means that we will probably be getting service back here very soon, so you PSN users can finally get back to playing Call of Duty: Black Ops and other fun games that we all enjoy to play online, but can’t enjoy because of the PSN being down. Take this as a rumor as of now, but yeah Playstation Network is very close to come up.

We will keep you guys updated when the network comes back up.
