Phantom Detective: Not Just for DS!

by Clint - on Feb 2nd 2012 - No Comments

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a pretty cool game that came out for the Nintendo DS back in January of last year here in the U.S. and was very well received by both gamers and critics alike. Well now Capcom has some good news for people who wanted to foray into the world of ghostly detective work: the game has gone on to possess its own app on the iTunes App Store for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch both here in the U.S. as well as Europe. The game features full touch screen controls and enhanced graphics in the new outing and will be available in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

You may have heard of the creator of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. The game was made by Shu Takumi, who is known for the extremely fun adventures of Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice in the Ace Attorney series. The game continues with his signature style of quirky humor, logic puzzles, and fantastic story with engaging art to go with it. The story follows recently deceased Sissel as he tries to solve his own murder by going between the realms of the living and the spirit world, possessing various objects along the way.

The app is available for free on the iTunes App Store, with the first two chapters being available for free to download with the game. The rest of the chapters are available on the App Store for $4.99 packs or as one huge pack for $9.99. All in all a good deal for a magnificent game and definitely a great opportunity for those lacking the dual-screened Nintendo handheld.

World’s First MMOs to Unite Desktop and Mobile Devices

Spacetime Studios Fulfills Mission of Ubiquitous Gaming Experience

AUSTIN, Texas – Dec. 08, 2011 – Spacetime Studios has achieved an industry milestone by removing the barriers between MMO players on different platforms. Pocket Legends and Star Legends, the world’s largest mobile MMO games, are now the first MMOs in history to allow people to play the same game together on desktop computers, smart phones and tablets.

Spacetime Games are played on a single global server, which means it is now possible for someone in the U.S. to play on their iPhone with someone in Germany on their Android tablet and someone in South Korea on their computer.

“There have always been technical walls between players of different platforms,” says Gary Gattis, CEO of Spacetime Studios. “Now, people are free to play on the device they choose with anyone, anywhere, anytime, whether they are at home or on-the-go.”

Pocket Legends and Star Legends are Powered by Spacetime, technology built to support a global player-base on different devices and platforms interacting together within the same server-set. Spacetime Studios integrated Google Chrome Native Client (NaCl) technology with the Spacetime Engine to create the desktop clients for Pocket Legends and Star Legends.

Pocket Legends and Star Legends: The Blackstar Chronicles are the world’s largest mobile MMOs with more than seven million downloads and a million play sessions weekly. Currently, Pocket Legends and Star Legends are playable on most Apple and Android mobile devices as well as Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

PopCap Games Launches All-New Adaptation of Bejeweled® and Standalone, Freemium Edition of Bejeweled Blitz Both for iPhone and iPod Touch

#2 All-Time Best-Selling Mobile Game Gets a High-Res, Next-Generation Makeover

SEATTLE, Washington—December 7, 2011—PopCap Games, the worldwide leader in casual games, today announced the launch of an all-new adaptation of Bejeweled® as well as a standalone, freemium edition of Bejeweled Blitz both for iPhone and iPod touch. The rollout of these titles initiates a new strategic direction for PopCap’s blockbuster puzzle game franchise on mobile platforms — now with expandable, evergreen game experiences suited to every gaming taste and budget.

With the launch of these new iterations of Bejeweled, PopCap will retire Bejeweled 2 for iPhone and iPod touch, making way for the next generation of the franchise with continuously evolving features and content. Players can visit the Apple App Store to download the all-new Bejeweled for US$.99. The standalone, freemium edition of Bejeweled Blitz is available at no cost. Both games will be rolling out worldwide in different geographies throughout the day.

“With nearly 40 million mobile units sold over the past eight years, Bejeweled is the second best-selling mobile game of all time, behind only Tetris,” noted Giordano Bruno Contestabile, Bejeweled franchise business director at PopCap Games. “As we strive to reach virtually everyone with a mobile communications device, PopCap will continue to make games that are even more accessible to that ever-expanding global audience. We’re taking a critical step toward this goal with the introduction of these new Bejeweled titles that will enhance our offerings on the iPhone for years to come.”

All-New Bejeweled for iPhone

The all-new Bejeweled for iPhone and iPod touch is the next major installment of PopCap’s flagship franchise on mobile, and will continually evolve with a range of new and exciting features well into the future.
