First impression of Spec Ops: The Line

by Elias - on Apr 11th 2012 - No Comments

While at our visit over at Pax East here in Boston, we were able to get our hands on 2K Games and Yager Development’s upcoming third person shooter Spec Ops: The Line. This game was really enjoyable to play and it felt like something fresh that third and first person shooter fans out there will like.

Even though Spec Ops is very different from Call of Duty, you will find this is a game that will raise the standards when it comes to graphics and gameplay in the whole shooter genre. In the single player demo campaign that we played at 2K’s booth, it felt like the story was going to be a good one, but most importantly, interesting.

We got inside a bus that had been made to look like it exploded and that made me want to play the game even more. You can see inside the van by looking at the video below.

Singleplayer

Spec Ops: The Line has a single player campaign that starts you off as Captain Martin Walker (Voiced by Nolan North, who plays Nathan Drake in Uncharted) and you are on a mission in Dubai. Accompanied by our Delta Force Bravo team, you are there to rescue a United States Army Colonel that was left behind. In the game’s story this is not the Dubai that we all know of today. Dubai is going through a post-catastrophe where the city is pretty much buried in sand from a disastrous sandstorm. This event caused many to evacuate while in the meantime some stayed behind. Captain Martin Walker and the Delta Force Bravo team have quite a mission to accomplish, which we will not spoil for you.

Multiplayer

After speaking to one of the developers, I found out that there will be some multiplayer in the game. Details on how that multiplayer will be were hard to come by, but keep checking with us as more details come our way. Look out for Spec Ops: The Line this June 26, 2012 on the XBOX 360, PS3 and Windows PC.

While hanging out at the ACAM at Pax East 2012

by Elias - on Apr 10th 2012 - No Comments

I had a great experience hanging out at the American Classic Arcade Museum (ACAM). Although I might have been in diapers or probably not even born during the times in which games like Missile Command and Pac Man JR were the Call of Duty and GTA’s of those days, ACAM brings back the memories of the arcade and all the fun around visiting one. Arcades are hard to find these days and hanging out with the people that enjoy being in one was quite a treat.

Up top you can see a short video taken at this year’s American Classic Arcade Museum over at Pax East. The video might bring back some nostalgia especially with the awesome 70′s and 80′s music in the background with songs like Poison – Nothing, but a good good time and Joe Walsh‘s – Life’s been good to me.

Lost Planet 3 unveiled, debut trailer

by Paul Yan - on Apr 10th 2012 - No Comments

Capcom revealed Lost Planet 3 earlier and the game’s first trailer can be seen above, which shows an armored gun-toting bearded man in a snowy environment fighting off against panther-like creatures on foot and then eventually in a mech.

Coming out in 2013 and being developed by Spark Unlimited (Legendary, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty), LP 3 will reportedly be a prequel to LP 1 and it seems like it will be very different than LP 2. Based on Official PlayStation Magazine UK’s preview of the game, LP 3 will be more story-focused and is described as a … Dead Space-like mech first-person shooter.

Now, I’ve never played any of the LP games before, so I can’t tell you how awesome/disappointing that sounds (I’m assuming it’s the latter), but know that there will still reportedly be multiplayer and third-person action. So, that’s good, right?

We’ve been exposed to different types of viruses in the Resident Evil universe like the T-Virus and G-Virus. But those are so 1998. In the upcoming Resident Evil 6, apparently there’s a new virus: the C-Virus. Ohhh!

In other related news, RE 6 will now be released sooner on Oct. 2 instead of the original date of Nov. 20. Ohhh! Ahhh!
