Review: Double Dragon Neon (PS3)

by Dude - on Oct 6th 2012 - No Comments

A game that’s going to take you back to the past is the awesome Side-Scrolling/Beat ‘Em Up Double Dragon Neon by Majesco and Wayforward. The series has been around since 1987 and it was awesome then, but better now.

With mixtapes making the game interesting and the ability to play through 3 different difficulty levels this is a game that new and old fans will enjoy.

Double Dragon Neon looks and feels great, but what’s nice about it is that the game brings that nostalgia from back in the days of the NES and Master System, which were the dominating consoles when the series began.

As in the previous games twin brothers, Billy and Jimmy set out to find the bad guys that have kidnapped Miriam. On their way to rescue her the guys face some challenges with glass-jawed goons, deadly sexy teleporting geishas and scientific abominations that become more difficult to beat as the game progresses.

The ultimate goal is to hunt down the very evil Skullmageddon and rescue Miriam.

Now on a next-gen console, the series supports two players with a patch that will eventually let gamers play in a multiplayer environment, which is a different experience in itself.

The people that developed this game worked really hard at making sure that the game has that 80’s feel to it. This is emphasized in the music played in the background with sounds that will bring back that nostalgia that older gamers crave for.

Obviously the game does not feel like the classic ones, but it’s not supposed to. For me  it felt a lot like a new Street Fighter game especially after the new skill and abilities are unlocked. Utilizing mixtape magic are the new skills and abilities that can be found throughout the game.

Our thoughts…

We recommend Double Dragon Neon to newer generation gamers as well as the older ones. It is a must have for the holiday season especially with family get togethers as you can re-live the good ol’ days with a relative or friend.

Double Dragon Neon gets a 8 out of 10. It’s available now on the XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 via PSN and XBL

Epic Mickey 2 on the Wii U Screenshots

by Dude - on Oct 4th 2012 - No Comments

The original Epic Mickey was a great game and now it appears that the game is going to be on the upcoming Nintendo Wii U.  Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is set some time after the first Epic Mickey, which was exclusive to the Nintendo Wii at the time. Now the game is on all of the  major consoles such as the XBOX 360, PS3, PC, Mac Os and of the Wii U. In the new Epic Mickey, the Mad Doctor returns after being defeated by Mickey in the fist game.

Multilayer features will be available and Oswald the lucky rabbit is the second player in the game and that should make things interesting.

Look out for Epic Mickey 2: Power of 2 on November 18, 2012, but for now check out these awesome screenshots.

by Dude - on Sep 19th 2012 - No Comments

In a recent job listing, Avalanche Studios (The guys behind the popular Just Cause series) revealed that a third installment of the game could be coming our way. In the job posting Avalanche Studios is asking for a “Vehicle Designer that would design and tune many different vehicles which form a backbone to our next open world game”. TGS: Sony Unveils the PlayStation 3 Slim!

by Dude - on Sep 19th 2012 - No Comments

Announced today at the Tokyo Game Show was the official PlayStation 3 slim. This could be a sign of the times and a good hint to gamers that a new PlayStation is likely to happen as Sony and Microsoft have to prepare to compete with Nintendo and their upcoming Wii U. According to the, this new console is approximately “20% smaller and 25% lighter” than all current PS3 consoles on the market.

There will be two different versions of the new PlayStation 3 Slim. One comes with 250 GB and the other comes with 500 GB of storage, which is a lot of space for a console these days. The 250 GB PS3 slim is going come with a limited edition bundle that will include a copy of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and a voucher that equals to the amount of about $30 dollars worth of bonus digital content for DUST 514. The best part of it all is that the whole bundle is only $269.99, which in my opinion is under-priced.

Below is a photo of the bundle and another picture with a different angle on the PS3 Slim.

Resident Evil 6 Demo is coming September 18

by Dude - on Sep 4th 2012 - No Comments

Capcom has confirmed today that the demo for Resident Evil 6 will be available for download on PSN and XBL this September 18. The new demo will feature completely different content that contained the previously released demo, which was exclusive to owners of the Xbox 360 version of Dragon’s Dogma.

Players will be able to dive into content from Resident Evil 6’s three main campaigns, either solo or partnering up via online co-op, and experience firsthand why it is one of this year’s most hotly anticipated titles.

Play as either Leon S. Kennedy or Helena Harper and further explore the dark corridors and moonlit grounds of Ivy University, swarming with the victims of the latest bioterrorist attack.

The action in Jake’s mission switches to the neon-lit streets of Lanshiang as he and Sherry Berkin fight off the J’avo, including their fully mutated forms. Be sure to check out Jake’s special hand-to- hand combat moves and Sherry’s stun baton as you struggle to stay alive.

Showcasing Resident Evil 6’s global setting, Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans head with fellow BSAA team members to the war-ravaged streets of Edonia. The amassed J’avo forces provide a stiff enough challenge, but that’s before the 3-story high B.O.W. Ogroman crashes the party. Select Piers for a slightly different weapons loadout than Chris including a sniper rifle with thermal scope.

In addition, for those owners of the PlayStation 3 version of Dragon’s Dogma, the exclusive demo previously only available for Xbox 360 owners will be available from September 5 to download via token redemption on the PlayStation Store.

Resident Evil 6 will release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 across Europe and North America on October 2. A PC version will follow soon.

Next DLC for Battlefield comes out on Sept 4

by Dude - on Aug 28th 2012 - No Comments

Electronic Arts has announced the details on the upcoming downloadable content for Battlefield 3. According to a post made on the Battlefield 3 website, PlayStation 3 owners that are subscribed to the “Premium Package” will get first dibs on the DLC next week.

It is nice to see that the PlayStation 3 has something exclusive from a third party developer. With the XBOX 360 getting exclusivity from Activision the PS3 needed something. Armored Kill takes Battlefield to it’s roots by bringing in larger maps, tanks, ATV’s and even aerial gunships.

As the third DLC for Battlefield 3, Armored Kill will become available on the XBOX 360 and the PC on September 11. PlayStation 3 owners can get their hands on the DLC on September 4.
