EA Games is in some controversy over Medal Of Honor and the game’s Afghanistan battles where some of the online players will play as Islamic insurgents. Family of fallen soldiers are not happy because these battles remind them of what these soldiers went through while in Afghanistan and with the recent casualties this causes a concern.

Karen Meredith, mother of a fallen US soldier says,

“Right now we’re going into a really, really bad time in Afghanistan and we’ve just come off of the worst month of casualties in the whole war and this game is going to be released in October…So, families who are burying their children are going to be seeing this and playing this game. My son didn’t get to start over when he was killed. His life is over, and I have to deal with this every day…it’s just not a game.”

EA defending Medal Of Honor

“In the multiplayer set-up, soldiers are fighting against the Taliban much like Allies fight Nazis in WWII shooter games. In Medal of Honour multiplayer, we give gamers the opportunity to play both sides”

In the end people this is just a game and although it is really sad to hear about a fallen soldier, we should use these games as a reminder that we were attacked on September 11. We really shouldn’t forget that because that was a really sad day in history.
