Not that we normally feature Apple products because we’re Windows people here, but a good friend of us bought one yesterday gave us a chance to test it out. From the looks of it we can tell you that the device itself feels and look great. It is incredibly thin, which we like, but don’t let the iPad fool you because it is certainly not a fully functional computer. The iPad is a device that Many people thought would replace laptops, but that is far from the truth because there are a lot of things missing.
Among one of the things missing is a USB hub, which can be a pain if you want to put data in it so that can be a annoying as you will have to use iTunes every time you put content on it. Some people like iTunes, but I don’t and that is the only tool that you use to put stuff, which means DRM headaches. Space is another issue because your options are 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, and that is too little space being that it’s very limited and we understand that Apple’s approach with the iPad is cloud computing, which is a terrible idea because your internet could be broken for days in your city and if you can’t access those essential files then you are at a disadvantage.
The price is another thing because the device really doesn’t do much and sure yes it comes with Netflix, which means you get to watch your instant queue, but that is not enough because 16GB can be filled in a few days and the price for the 16GB ipad is $500 bucks, so let’s say you buy a few games, songs, videos well that means that after a while you have no disk space.
Because the Apple iPad didn’t impress us at all and certainly does not replace a laptop, we can’t recommend to everybody. However if you are the type of person that just checks your email and would like to read a couple of blogs and play a few simple games then this is the perfect product for you, but it will not replace your laptop and because of this we give it a 7 out of 10.
